P90X One on One - Shoulders and Arms

Today was my day to P90X one on one Shoulders and Arms. These are the preview for the upcoming P90X MC2 (Muscle Confusion). This workout is listed as 59 minutes long. It does start out with a warm-up. This workout seems pretty simple to follow. There are only 8 exercises in all (each is repeated three times).
Optional equipment used: stability/balance ball and bands. He recommends going heavy for the first round and then going lighter on the other two, if necessary. Tony calls this workout muscle cross fit confusion. The first two are heavy duty & the second two exercises are fine tuning.
I like this workout because you don't have to run around a lot to get new equipment. You can easily figure out the moves and if you want, you can skip thru the chatter and squeeze it in less than 59 minutes.

Goddess Booty

Today I picked "Goddess Booty" from the Yoga Booty Ballet: Master Series. Its about a 20 minute workout that works on your abs, glutes, and lower back. It's led by two instructors Gillian Marloth and Teigh Mcdonough. I would say that this workout is mostly a mat workout. You spend most of the time on the mat doing glute exercises, a little bit of standing ballet leg work and ends with a couple yoga moves (stretches). I like this quick little workout and I think it makes for a nice little morning workout.

Monday, Monday. Have you had your yoga today?

Monday is here. I am so tired. I get off my daily schedule over the weekend. Instead of getting up at 5 am to workout, I sleep in to 7 or 8 on Saturday and Sunday.

Kickin Core Turbo Jam Ball Workout

What's scheduled for today? Kickin' Core

Chalene Johnsons Get On the Ball! - Kickin' Core is scheduled for today.  The Get On the Ball set has two dvd's. Here's the description from my beachbody store
  • "This isn't like any ball routine you've ever seen—its funky, nonstop sequences target your abs and core like no other workout. If you're ready to take your core routine to a whole new level, these new workouts are your secret weapon! Tone and sculpt your abs, core, and obliques with this breakthrough series of on-the-ball moves, including some of your favorite "Elite 11" moves! (45 minutes)"
  • This set comes with two workouts dvds, plus your choice of medium or large ball & a pump. That's a pretty rockin' deal for $39.90.
  • This is my first time for the workout, so I'm pretty excited. This fitness dvd is part of the Turbo Jam set so the warm is the typical Turbo Jam warm-up (punches, knees up, etc.) I think this was pretty easy for me because I have the original Turbo Jam set. All the moves are familiar to me, just in a different order and with new music, so it makes it fun and easy to do. It is also SO EASY to make it low impact if you are just starting out or don't like jumping because of your knees or back. It also can be done in a very small space. I did this in a 6' x 8' area.
    • 26 minutes (approx) of Turbo Jam punches and kicks
    • 2 minutes Turbo section (that can be done low impact)
    • 13 minutes of ball exercises (mostly for the core: squats, diagonal knees up, turbo jam wheel move w/ the ball, squeeze the ball with your knees, lift ball with legs up to the back, pushups,  situps, and more). This is my favorite part of the workout!
    • 3-1/2 minute cool down

What are your fitness goals for next week?

In many areas of my life, I like to set small achievable goals that I can reach. I used to be a procrastinator during college. I put things off until the last minute. Now, many years later, I like to get things done early. I don't really like rushing and finishing at the last minute. Even if I can just get started for 5-10 minutes to get motiviated or organized is better than nothing. I've also adapted this change to my fitness area of life. Instead of saying, I want to lose 40 pounds or get to a size 2, I like to work on small achievable goals. One month I challenged myself to adding 100 kettlebell swings to my workout every day. It may be a small thing each day, but at the end you have added up lots of swings.

Do you have a favorite workout that you love?

Do you have a favorite little gem that you love to do? Do you have a workout that has no dread factor? For me, it's KenpoX. I just think it is a wonderful workout.

  • It's a nice pace for me, especially for morning workouts at 5 am.

There's punching and kicking, my favorite exercises!

The crew just seems to be having fun!

I'm always interested to hear what motivates people to work out each day.
